General Information

Installing Autodesk Express Viewer and Volo View or Volo View
Express on the same computer:

Autodesk Express Viewer takes over as the default viewer for .DWF files and
the mime-types. This implies that double-clicking a .DWF file in Windows
Explorer launches Autodesk Express Viewer.

Uninstalling Autodesk Express Viewer removes the .DWF file association. This
implies that on uninstall, double-clicking a .DWF file in Windows Explorer does
not launch any viewer and displays the following message Windows cannot
open this file. To make Volo View the default viewer, run the Volo View setup
program and either select the Repair feature or reinstall the program.

Uninstalling Volo View or Volo View Express also removes the .DWF file
association. This implies that on uninstall, double-clicking a .DWF file in
Windows Explorer does not launch any viewer and displays the following
message Windows cannot open this file. Reinstall Autodesk Express Viewer
to regain the file association.

Installing Autodesk Express Viewer and AutoCAD 2002 Design
Publishing Extension on the same computer:

AutoCAD 2002 Design Publishing Extension ships with Autodesk Express
Viewer. Autodesk Express Viewer is installed along with the extension. When
a new version of Autodesk Express Viewer is installed, it overwrites the one
installed by AutoCAD. Uninstalling AutoCAD results in Autodesk Express
Viewer being uninstalled. To view .DWF files, install Autodesk Express
Viewer.

Printing large DWF files to some printers where the spool size is in excess of
100MB can result in errors and the printer not responding. When errors occur,
the print jobs usually are restored and completed after a printer restart. This
issue is not specific to DWF files and can be seen with most document types
whose spool size exceeds 100MB.

On Windows NT 4.0 machines that have only the operating system installed,
some functionality such as Help and Invoking hyperlinks in Autodesk Express
Viewer do not work and cause Autodesk Express Viewer to crash. This is
because the file, shlwapi.dll, is not on these systems. If you run into this
issue, upgrade your Internet Explorer to version 5.01 or greater since
shlwapi.dll is installed by Internet Explorer 5.01 and above.

Viewing DWF files with Autodesk Express Viewer in Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows 98:

Dragging and dropping a DWF file onto Internet Explorer on a computer with a Windows 98 operating system starts the Autodesk Express Viewer stand-alone application and opens the file in the stand-alone application. It does not open the file in Internet Explorer.
